Flyers Creek WF Earthing Design and Consolidation

Project:
ZSE23092 Flyers Creek Earthing Design
Client/Asset Owner:
Elecnor, Essential Energy
Project Type:
Utility substation, Renewable energy

Project Description

The Flyers Creek wind farm project, encompassing a 132/33kV substation, 132kV transmission line, 33kV collector feeders and wind turbines, required a comprehensive earthing system design. The challenge was to address local faults at wind turbines, local 33kV and 132kV substation faults and hazards transferred to wind turbines, including those originating from 132kV line and pole faults. Ensuring consistency in earthing across diverse systems was paramount.

Our Solution

Zero Sequence Earthing embarked on the project by providing expert earthing system design and consolidation. Our team assessed a wide range of fault scenarios, considering both local and transferred hazards. We ensured a uniform approach to earthing across the site, optimising safety and system performance.

Final Results

The Flyers Creek WF Earthing Design and Consolidation project achieved a harmonised and effective earthing system for the wind farm. By addressing potential hazards and ensuring consistency, we enhanced the safety and reliability of the entire system. Additionally, Zero Sequence Earthing will conduct a current injection test of the substation following construction, further ensuring the project’s electrical integrity. This case exemplifies our commitment to delivering robust earthing solutions for critical infrastructure projects.
