Capital Hill BESS Earthing Design and Testing

Project:
ZSE22123 CPP Capital BESS
Client/Asset Owner:
CPP, Transgrid
Project Type:
Utility substation, Renewable energy

Project Description

The Capital Hill Battery Energy Storage System (CHBESS), situated adjacent to the Transgrid Queanbeyan substation, required a robust earthing system design and testing. This critical infrastructure needed protection against local 132kV and 33kV faults, as well as faults from the adjacent Transgrid Queanbeyan transmission substation and the Oaks Estate Essential Energy substation.

Our Solution

Zero Sequence Earthing tackled the project with a thorough approach. We conducted earthing system design, electromagnetic field (EMF) modelling and earthing system current injection testing (CIT). Our team meticulously modelled the local buried earth grid and interconnected assets to assess various fault scenarios, ensuring the CHBESS was shielded from potential electrical hazards.

Final Results

The Capital Hill BESS Earthing Design and Testing project delivered robust protection for the CHBESS. By addressing a wide range of fault scenarios and utilizing advanced modeling and testing techniques, our solution enhanced the safety and reliability of this vital energy storage system. Zero Sequence Earthing’s expertise in earthing design and testing once again contributed to the secure operation of critical infrastructure.
